I love the farmer's market

We bought eight beautiful tomatoes today at the Silver Lake Farmer's Market. I can't wait 'til the tomatoes in our garden get ripe!

Gay rights protest in Silver Lake right now?!

There's an anti-DOMA mini-parade in the triangle park below my house right now--they temporarily shut down Sunset Blvd., though now that they're at the park the police won't let em back on Sunset. The Five Dollar Guy is displaying his rainbow flag, and he actually waved at us when we waved at him through our window from about 400 feet away. (He tried to pay me $10 today to take a rattlesnake head keychain, but that's another story.)

How come no one invited us?!

Notice for Silver Lake Residents

i spotted this flier at big mac's liquor last night and took a picture of
it on my blackberry so i would have all the info, and then i realized that
it might be of interest to other silver lake residents as well.

the silver lake neighborhood council is holding a community meeting on
saturday, april 18 at 11 am to discuss a proposed mixed use development
for 94 rental units, a restaurant and retail on sunset junction at 4000
sunset blvd.

i'm really interested in going to this meeting, but i will be out of town
that weekend, and most of my friends will be at coachella.

i support bringing good businesses and living spaces to silver lake but am
worried that the developer will build something too garish/commercial. i
want our area to remain a real neighborhood (even though a spa is coming
next to my apartment, which will be weird).

if you end up going please let me know what you find out!

here is the copy from the flier in case you have problems reading the photo:

Poladroid of @lemonodor

Since Polaroid film is going away as of December 31st, I decided to test out Poladroid, a program that gives your pictures a Polaroid-like frame.

Here's my neighbor John from the No on Prop 8 rally in Silver Lake (the original photo and the Poladroid).
